Kyle Dreier — Photography. Vision. Passion. If you look at Kyle's work, study his career path and then dig in to his family life you'll see why he has such a passion for creating imagery. From an early age, his parents encouraged off-the-chart creativity. This encouragement manifested itself in a number of ways throughout his upbringing in the Dallas, Texas area — Irving, to be exact. He studied business at Baylor University (Waco, Texas) for three years and ultimately earned a Bachelor's of Fine Art Degree in Communication Design from the University of North Texas (Denton, Texas). A combination of his experiences in advertising, graphic design and publishing plus his creative abilities and passion for imagery (and his entrepreneurial bug) lead him to open his own design firm in Dallas, Texas. In 1998 Kyle and his wife moved to the Nashville, Tennessee area where Kyle's creative pursuits continued without interruption. Today, Kyle's time is occupied with photography and image making. Kyle and Amy now live in Franklin, Tennessee where they enjoy four seasons, three sons, one fish, a multitude of friends and countless blessings. How I got here. I have enjoyed capturing images on film since 1974 when I received my first camera. That year I embarked on a grand photographic adventure taking me to Italy, Greece, Egypt, Malawi, South Africa and Brazil in a four week period. Since then I've used photography as a way to capture moments in time, express creative vision and explore graphic images — always conveying a story for others to enjoy. I have been shaped by my experiences. There's no doubt that my background in art direction and design plays a big role in my photography work. One might ask which came first but it's similar to the chicken/egg debate — I've long had a propensity for creating image and conveying ideas through photography and graphic design. These intersect as I compose my photography with a strong graphic design influence. Photography also blends the technical and creative, both of which I enjoy — it's a left-brain / right-brain love affair.
